Making a first impression with a recruiter
You have just one chance to make a first impression with a recruiter. Yep! One!
Like it or not, your interactions with a recruiter are usually all down to that first impression when it comes to applying for a role.
So please - put a bit of effort in!
I still see so many messages coming through from people that are borderline automated spam. Hundreds a week. Do you even want the job? Are you really interested? Personalise that sh*t!
When you apply on LinkedIn it auto-fills a response but please, for the love of all that is good and pure in the world, add your own words to it.
If you care about a role, show it.
Would I like to be able to sense your personality from that first contact? My god, please. I don’t want to be sifting through hundreds of applications that are exactly the same. I know it sounds harsh, but it’s the truth.
Tell me in actual typed words that you’ve seen the role and you’re interested, that you’d be a great fit, that you want to talk more.
I’ll be ten times more likely to answer your application first… promise.
